All recreational areas are open and free to the public except the East Shelter House and the North Shelter House, which may be reserved at the Lake Office.  The Lake Hall may also be rented by reservation at the Lake Office.
     There is a three hour limit for persons using either the north or east shelter houses.  Parties who want a shelter house for longer than three hours may reserve and pay a fee at the lake office.
     Persons under twelve (12) years must be accompanied by an adult while on the lake premises.
     The Lake Hall is closed November 16th through March.

Fishing

            The Marion County Park and Lake has entered into a five (5) year contract with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.  This program is called Community Fisheries Assistance Program.
            All Kansas residents age 16 through 64 who have been residents of the State of Kansas for sixty (60) days immediately prior to buying a license, must have a resident license in possession while fishing in Kansas.
            All non-residents age 16 and older must have a valid non-resident license to fish in Kansas.  Fishing licenses are subject to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks regulations and are not transferable

Heated Fishing Dock

The heated dock is open year round, 24 hours a day. There is no admission charge for fishing in or from the heated dock, but a valid Kansas fishing license is required.

Camping

Camping permits may be obtained from the Superintendent at the lake office.

Cost of permits are :

            $6.00 for first vehicle or unit, motorcycle, bicycle or  person. Second vehicle free for immediate family members only.
            $6.00 per person over (4) occupants, other than immediate family members in same vehicle or camp site.
            $2.00 for each vehicle over two in each immediate family, per night, check out time is 7:00 pm
            Electricity and water, $12.00 per night, check out time is 7:00 pm for each vehicle or unit.  Second vehicle free for immediate family member only.  This vehicle shall not infringe into the next camp sight.
            A paid camping permit is required for use of dump station or trash hoppers.  Cable TV is available at $1.75 per day.
            Trailer houses may be parked on lots set up for yearly camping.  Price per year will depend on length and width of trailer.  Prices will start at $698.00 to $863.00.  This includes electricity, water and sewer.  After the first years rent has been paid in full, further half-year payments may be paid by making arrangements with the Lake Superintendent.  Limited staying time only.  A separate set of rules and regulations govern the lot leases.

Boats and Boating

Yearly vessel permit fees for Marion County Residents, Lakeside cabin owners and persons renting a yearly trailer house lot shall be, $10.00 for row vessels, sailboats, sailboards, pontoons, paddle boats, canoes and vessels powered by electricity or motors up to and including 9.9 h.p.; $15.00 for 10 h.p. and including 14 h.p.; $22.00 for 15 h.p. and including 99 h.p.; $30.00 for 100 h.p. and including 199 h.p.; $40.00 for 200 h.p. and up; $30.00 for any h.p. personal watercraft.  All vessels shall have the Marion County vessel permit sticker which is issued when the vessel permit is obtained.  The sticker is to be placed on all vessels on the right rear side of the vessel.  For purposes of this paragraph, only Marion County residents, lakeside cabin owners, and persons renting a yearly trailer lot at Marion County Lake who are named on the Kansas "Certificate of Number" card as principal owner of the vessel for which a yearly boat permit is sought, shall be eligible to purchase a boat permit under the foregoing fee schedule.
            Speed boating and skiing permits shall be issued only to Marion County residents and owners of lakeside cabins, and to persons renting a yearly trailer house lot at the camp ground area.
            A person who has rented a cabin from a cabin owner for a year, may, by showing a rental contract at office, purchase a speed boating permit for skiing but the cabin owner must relinquish his right to operate his own vessel for speeding or skiing purposes.
            “NEW” All Marion County and all non-county resident vessels used for fishing will not be required to have a county boat permit if used for fishing purposes only, and will be limited to operate at a speed of not to cause a wash or wake (5 m.p.h. or less).  All vessels used for pleasure or non-fishing purposes will be required to have appropriate Marion County boat permits as described.
            Boat permits for pleasure to non-county residents are $3.00 per day or $15.00 per year.  These permits allow boating only at speeds not to cause a wash or wake (5 m.p.h. or less).

Scuba Diving

Marion County residents, Lakeside cabin owners and persons renting a yearly trailer lot, between the age of 16 to 65 are required to obtain a permit to scuba dive at a cost of $3.00 per day or $7.00 per year.  For all non-county residents, the age limit is 16 to 65 and the cost of the permit is $3.00 per day or $15.00 per year.

Hunting

Hunting is not permitted within the Marion County Lake boundries.
